Last year it was a family of four bears but this year it has been a family of BATS~!!! The other night our two cats and dog were twisting their heads as they were staring at one of our walls. Inside the wall we heard desperate scratching, climbing and flopping as we put our ears to the paint. I knew the sound all too well. It was a bat trapped in the wall. It was late so the next morning I went to the fishing supply store and purchased a soft fishing-butterfly net. Cutting a hole in the wall... I taped the net around the hole... shut off the lights and low in behold ten minutes later I caught myself a bat. Just as planned the little critter crawled out of the hole and got caught in the net... The hard part was getting the tape off the net with one hand as I trapped the bat in the net... with gloves... with the other hand... The poor guy must have been in there for days because he looked exhausted... Finally I got him outside and released him.... or her... to the wild. The bat took off for flight as he actually looked back at me as to say... "Thank you" in bat language... I love the country.

Chris

Times Is Tuff

As a novice computer guy... I have been struggling to keep UnwantedNews.com as user friendly as I can. The audio clips have been a challenge due to complaints of download speeds... So I have traded in some quality which will make each audio clip a smaller file... so they should download quicker... This week I added a great cartoonist, Rajan Sedalia to the Unwanted News pages. Rajan is a very talented person and in all honesty... inspired me to keep pushing the site as I was starting to get a little frustrated. My intention is to give all artists/writers a Free forum to share their talents... Thanks AOL for letting me tap in. As far as MTV is concerned... Your corporate greed has sunk to new lows~!!! You should have let PBS handle the broadcast. Cutting off classic artists... Annie Lennox, Stevie Wonder, The Who and one of the most incredible reunions of rock history...PINK FLOYD~!!! These artists gave up their time and money to perform for the world and MTV cashed in. Maybe they donated all of the Ad Revenue to Africa... if they did... then I guess it's semi ok to butcher almost every singer and group. Ahhh... wait... didn't they cut off Annie Lennox and go to a Jimmy Fallon interview??? Whatever... I just needed to vent. The internet stream was flawless and the concerts were great. Hope you all got a chance to see it. I was naive about the poverty in Africa and this concert did what it set out to do... made me aware. I hope they get the message at the G8 meeting next Wednesday... The World Cares~!!! Kudos to Bob Geldof, what an amazing man~!

A Question From Anonymous

One of our readers has been entering material at www.writersdigest.com and was looking for other short story contest sites to win cash. Does anyone out there have any suggestions... please advise. I've sent some really short stuff and some jokes to Reader's Digest... www.RD.com but never got a response... they must get thousands of entries a week though... You might want to check out www.writersmarket.com although they deal with submissions not contests... there is an annual twenty some dollar fee but it's better than the book because it's updated all year... as opposed to the Writer's Market book. Their web-site can get a little confusing at first... it's a great reference for sending material to mags, publishers, agents and newspapers. Any other ideas???

Welcome

Welcome to the UnwantedNews.com blogger page. Our goal for this site is to give the Unwanted, Unpublished writer, artist, cartoonist the opportunity to share their struggles, ideas and experiences in the publishing world. Our Home site (UnwantedNews.com) is in the infant stage of development and we have an open mind to your comments and suggestions. I personally am a struggling comedian, writer and cartoonist who knows first hand what it's like to get rejection slip after rejection slip. Sitting by the mailbox day after day like a fool waiting for that one promising letter. I created UnwantedNews.com for my own comedic outlet. If anything... I enjoy the hope that at least one person out there in the cyber world will get a laugh out of my work, other than my Mother. Feel free to give advice, ask questions, vent and go to UnwantedNews.com and see how you can get your unwanted material published for free and keep all of your rights. Unfortunately I am broke so I can't compensate you with money but free exposure is always valuable. Let's work together and grow~!
